“Pit pimping to kids”

The first use of “pit pimping” appears to have been in 2009 by an anonymous commenter on the DogsBite blog and refers to Ledy VanKavage (aka Bledy VanKarnage), a lobbyist for Best Friends Animal Society. That VanKavage has been “pit pimping since the age of four” refers to when she got her very first pit bull, “Boody” that was allowed to roam and often fought with other dogs, according to VanKavage. Like pimps who procure customers for their prostitutes, pit pimpers procure new owners for their notorious “killer breed.”

The most egregious form of pit pimping, similar to drug dealers soliciting school children, is “pit pimping to kids.” In late July, just days after the City of Detroit declared bankruptcy, a group named Detroit Dog Rescue (all of 8 employees) was featured in an article pimping out rescued “drug” and “fighting” pit bulls to children. Journalist Gus Burns, who covered the lengthily recovery process of Duane VanLanHam, nearly killed by pit bulls in 2009, wrote the pitiable article. This is a bad blight upon Burns, who knows better.

In his article, Burns prints many deceitful myths invented by pit bull breeders and owners retold by Detroit Dog Rescue within the basement of a “closed church” where 30-plus children were attending the Crescendo Music Camp. It’s one thing for Burns to write a pit bull puff piece, it’s quite another to promote a group that pimps these dogs to kids. It’s unknown if any of the parents were aware of the pit pimping “media event”[1] — their kids used as pawns — prior to its occurrence. No parents were included in Burns’ article.

Damien Crutcher, the camp director, is the most appalling. He arranged the pit pimping “media event” to “dispel misconceptions about pit bulls.” Though Detroit has up to 50,000 stray dogs, many of which are pit bulls from dangerous backgrounds, dogfighting and drugs, Crutcher states: Their[2] are beliefs about pit bulls that “they’re man eaters, they’ll attack you, they kill kids; it’s actually the opposite. I don’t think it’s any more dangerous, I just think it’s the way that some of them are raised by their owners,” Crutcher said.

Notably, pit bull mauling deaths are so frequent in “pit hole” Detroit that a medical study was devoted to this issue.

“Pit pimping to kids” should be a crime — in Detroit it should be a felony.

This is the ONE thing the pit nutters have going for them and how they’ve managed to turn a defective pet animal into a trend-no low is too low. No shame, no decency, no conscience, just pit pimping anywhere and anytime. – KaD
This child was at least the 250th American to be life flighted after a pit bull attack since the last CDC report … After two decades of pit pimping by Organized Pit Idiocy Groups (OPIGS), Life Flights are really taking off!! – Vintage
Here they are talking about propagandizing for their fighting breeds after a violent pit bull attack, where Julia Jones made sure to go out and lie to the press to save their pit pimping asses. Or rather “She was contacted by the Federal Way Mirror to do an interview portraying the positive side of pit bulls.” Nice that a newspaper is contacting a pit bull pimper to help out fighting breeds. Is Margo Horner nuts or just stupid? – Anonymous
That area is eat up with pits. And now they are bringing in Brenda Barnette, another pit pimper who subscribes to the Winograd “No Kill Equation” motto of pits get a bad rap. Sorry about the attack, your little didn’t stand a chance. – User P.
If there ever was a pit pimping group, it’s the cult of Best Fiends. You don’t understand how to manipulate, only how to be manipulated. And manipulation is what is happening with the professional dog fighters. – HarveMorgan

“So sorry for your loss … BUT”

This term refers to a branch of Pit Sociopaths. Zealous pit bull advocates (Nutters), who comment on mauling threads or write directly to the parents of children killed by a pit bull. “So sorry for your loss … BUT” commenters care “nothing for social norms and will break them with impunity if it serves their purpose,” which in this case involves defending the pit bull breed. The “BUT” follows the superficial expression of trying to appear socially normal by first stating, “So sorry.” The latter part is used to explain away the destructive injuries inflicted by pit bulls or to place blame on other factors, such as the victim or dog owner.

I am so very very sorry for your loss and I do feel your pain I myself also lost a son but being a pet owner all of my life and helping in rescue and transports I can tell you what happen that day only the sitter and the dogs know what happen and since the pets cant talk well they could not defend themselves I believe 99.9 % that what happen is not what truly happen and it was a 100% the sitters fault so to blame it solely on the pets is not right they will suffer again because of a irresponsible owner that wasn’t doing her job. – Carrie L. Willnow (Re: Death of Daxton Borchardt)

I am soo sorry for the loss of this child. But the dog did not attack because of its breed.. That is just stupid to even say, or blame it on why the dog attacked. The dog must have though the boy was hurting the woman. We need to stop putting sterotypes on breeds of dogs. Maybe the dog was sick and the yelling child over stimulated the dog and he just snapped. – Brandy Burns Carey (Re: Death of Ayden Evans)

I am so sorry for the loss of this woman’s life and how painful it just have been and my heart goes out to her family during this tragedy. But can we all take as deep breath here and think for a moment. The pit bull breed, and the boxer breed look very much alike. Furthermore there are just as many ”vicious” German Shepherd’s or Rottweiler’s. Let’s not always blame a single bred. After all is that not similar to racism in the human race? – Lori (Re: Death of Pamela Devitt)

I am very sorry for your loss, but now this is getting a little bit disturbing. I understand you’re upset, & you have every right to be, at THOSE DOGS, not every dog of the same breed. That’s so unfair to classify every pitbull as a terrible dog. I know plenty that are loving. It’s not the dogs fault, it’s the owner. – Hannah Hoyt (Re: Death of Daxton Borchardt)

You know what Kimberly? I don’t think one person on here doesn’t feel bad about what happened. This is a terrible situation & I understand you both are hurt. But, regardless of any situation & circumstance, there is always a line to where it gets inappropriate. Again, we are all sorry for the loss, but I think his best bet is to talk about killing pitbulls outside of Facebook where our “insensitive” comments won’t be heard. – Hannah Hoyt (Re: Death of Daxton Borchardt)

Wow I’m sorry for your loss but this is a bit over board. Pit bulls aren’t all bad. Plus is this how you would react if your sons life would of been taken by a robber? And he was already dead? Would you want every man killed? I understand you have been through a lot and I don’t know what it feels like but this status went too far. – Amanda Bustos (Re: Death of Daxton Borchardt)

im so soo sorry for you loss kim and jeff, but an animal is called an animal for a reason! there all wired the same way…unfortinatly it was a pitt and not a boxer or pitcher or bulldog…things triggr actions from all mammals including humans… – Kristy Dickman (Re: Death of Daxton Borchardt)

I am sorry for their loss and my heart goes out to them. But even in my reading this story it doesn’t change my opinion about this breed. I will ALWAYS and FOREVER love the Pit Bull breed and I will continue to fight on their behalf and to love them … If we ban this breed it will just be like segregation all over again and the Pits are us black folk. You may never change your mind about this and that’s fine but don’t try and make this breed be extinct – Angela Nicholas (Re: Death of Daxton Borchardt)

First off I would like to say how sorry I am for the family of this little girl. My thoughts and prayers are with them. Second I would like to know what the Pit was mixed with, was that bread partly to blame as well? .. My brother has had several Pit Bulls and never once had a problem with them ever, other than hogging the couch. – The rest please (Re: Death of Savannah Edwards)

Same superficial expression, different terminology:

My heart goes out to you, losing your son is unimaginable. But he wasnt murdered, murder is a human condition. And i hope to god im wrong, but this video appears to me to be a thinly disguised attempt to tout your dj ‘skills’ rather then educate, or celebrate your sons life. – shelagh purvis (Re: Death of Daxton Borchardt)

“Pit Sociopath”

A sociopath is a person with a psychopathic personality whose behavior is antisocial, often criminal, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. Sociopaths and psychopaths each fall within the broader term of persons with Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD). Generally speaking, sociopaths exhibit psychopathic behaviors in certain contexts but not all. For instance, while a sociopath cares “nothing for social norms and will break them with impunity if it serves their purpose,” they may not do so within their group or family. (See comparison chart: Psychopath vs. Sociopath).

A Pit Sociopath — antisocial pit bull defender — comes in a variety of forms detectable by their outward behavior. For instance Dine-n-Dash behavior, rounding up their pit bulls after a serious attack and fleeing the scene, which often forces dog bite victims to undergo a painful and expensive ($2,000 and beyond) series of rabies shots. Their characteristic “impoverished conscience” can also be detected when commenting at mauling threads or in the examples below, exhibiting extreme sociopathy by communicating directly with a parent whose child was brutally mauled to death by two pet pit bulls.

Mix Master Bogart is Jeff Borchardt, a widely known deejay in the Midwest. His son Daxton Borchardt, 14-months old, was killed by his babysitter’s two pit bulls on March 6, 2013 in Walworth County, Wisconsin. The arriving deputy initially feared it was a murder scene. Bloodstained snow and fabric covered the backyard where the attack took place. The relentless mauling lasted up to 15 minutes. The child was first taken by ambulance to Mercy-Walworth Medical Center then taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. The boy suffered catastrophic injuries and did not survive.

Pit Sociopath: Stephen Chroma Cristofano

My pitbull is the most loving dog i have ever had. Sorry your loved ones got there faces chewed off because they don’t know how to train dogs. Fuckin dj dude not be an activists about how pitbulls are shit.. You are just as bad as motherfuckers who fight them. Might as well have terriers put down because they nipped my niece in the face? Get a life.

Mix Master Bogart
I will ask you to wait a week or two for the full story to come out on a blog…then and only then you will understand why I have come to the conclusion that it is the breed and ONLY the breed that killed my son…please be patient…when the over 5000+ word blog comes out, please take the time to read the WHOLE piece…THEN get back to me…thank you.

Stephen Chroma Cristofano
Then realize you’re bringing a fuckin dog into an infants home. That was your fault as a parent not the dogs fault. I be you put a rabid rot in the same room with a rot and it’ll happen. I’m genuinely sorry about your son. But you don’t have to go out of your way to phish to get attention. And then encourage communities to put down pits.

Mix Master Bogart
ok…so you will NOT listen to the whole story then…ok, nevermind…delete me please….frankly, I’m sick of telling the story…sorry to challenge your “conditioned” way of thinking.

Stephen Chroma Cristofano
That’s fine you have a story good for you man. Again I apologize for your tragedy. But killing THE BREED. Will not avenge your death.
Sent from Mobile

Nutter Stephen Cristofano refers to “avenge” in his final message. This is hardly about avenging. This is about preventing the 300 or so new pit bull fatalities coming over the next ten years. Cristofano seems perfectly fine by this equation — aka Pit Sociopath.

Pit Sociopath: Cheryl Whiting

On July 9, Jeff posted pictures to his Facebook timeline after a day on Lake Beulah with his wife and his two small dogs. Pit Sociopath Cheryl Whiting, who had been a friend of Jeff’s up until this point, coldly and calculatedly played the pit bull card on his timeline that only leaves ONE possibility open since no one on earth has ever confused a chihuahua with a pit bull. Whiting is a Pit Sociopath of a different nightmarish twist than Cristofano. Whiting plays the “Can’t identify a pit bull” game (but notably refers to a “blue nose” pit bull, a specific type) while simultaneously and demonically taunting the grieving father.

Cheryl Whiting
“wow was just a question everyone here has one jeez”

Antisocial, perverse and diabolically wicked

Whiting is especially grotesque by creating a Nutter episode on a photo comment that had nothing to do with this issue, and adds, “everyone here has one jeez,” in order to normalize a dog breed that kills more people than all other dog breeds combined.

Over time, the original term, Pit Nutter, has been shortened to simply Nutter. Like the original term, Nutter embodies the same meaning: “The hallmark trait of the pit nutter is their unwillingness to accept the genetic heritage of the pit bulldog (It’s all how you raise ‘em!) or their inability to see the death and destruction their pit bulldogs create as anything other than collateral damage that the rest of society must absorb so that the pit nutter can enjoy the freedom of owning a killing machine.”

In 2013, however, the term “Nutter” sharpened to distinguish the purveyors of untruthful pit bull myths. In a June new release, “It’s Time for the Pit Bull ‘Recall’ Too,” attorney Kenneth Phillips states the distinction, “Unfortunately, pit bull lovers have neglected the problem for too long. Worse, they have alienated the general public by failing to denounce the “nutters” who spread misinformation about the members of this breed, which generally are not “nanny dogs,” service dogs, or rescue dogs.”

Some Nutters are intelligent, some are not, while others are mindless drones, circulating false myths about the pit bull breed because they have been directed to (See: Best Friends Animal Society). The primary demographic of Nutters are Caucasian women. Frequently young women of the child-bearing years (18 to 30-years old) with a natural draw to “mother” or “rescue” just about anything, in this case stockpiles of unwanted pit bulls that continuously flood U.S. open admission shelters.

Terms sharing the Nutter base include: Stockholm Nutter, Super Nutter, Nikko Nutter, pre-Nutter and post-Nutter.

A recent gathering in Riverside, California shows another Organized Pit Bull Idiocy Group (OPIG) marching to ensure that the colossal animal control resources already consumed by pit bulls continues unchecked and that maulings by pit bulls continue ad nauseum. OPIGs offer no solutions to shelters glutted with unwanted pit bulls from coast to coast — a serious “humane” concern. Nor do OPIGs offer solutions aimed at reducing “severe” and “mauling” injuries primarily inflicted by pit bulls — a serious “human” concern. Breed-specific legislation, however, offers proven solutions to each of these problems.

Organized Pit Bull Idiocy

“Stockholm Nutter”

Stockholm Nutter is derived from the base term “Nutter” (short for Pit Nutter) and is part of several combined terms, such as Super Nutter, Nikko-Nutter, pre-Nutter and post-Nutter. A Stockholm Nutter is exactly what it suggests: A pit bull owner who has been at the receiving end of the death and destruction these dogs inflict, but still has empathy, sympathy and positive feelings for the breed. Wikipedia describes Stockholm syndrome as a form of “traumatic bonding” that does not necessarily require a hostage scenario.

Meet Patricia (Trisha) Williams of Waukesha. In June 2011, Williams, then 52-years old, was brutally attacked by one of her two pet pit bulls, named Prince. The dog nearly killed her. Williams was airlifted to a trauma level hospital where she spent over two months recovering from her injuries. The pit bull took out her whole knee among other atrocities.  In March 2013, she told media members that she still wished Prince was still alive — police shot and killed the animal when they arrived on scene. Williams kept Prince’s mother.

“I was playing ball with him, chasing him around the backyard. I brought him in to put him in the kennel and he didn’t want to go in. He turned around and was attacking me — I think he blacked out (classic Stockholm excuse!) … I miss him. I never thought [Prince] was bad. I don’t blame anybody for it, it’s just something that happened.” – Trisha Williams

Trisha Williams

More Stockholm Nutters

“Moss spent Tuesday afternoon in the hospital, getting stitches, but Wednesday she’s right back at the shelter, saying she just can’t stay away and she’s missing Rex [the pit bull that attacked her], a dog she spent a lot of time with. ‘I don’t blame the [pit bull] one bit, if he was still here today, I would love him. I tended to that dog for 9 days and he was part of me,’ Moss said.”  – Smith County, Texas Shelter Director Nanette Moss
“Mending at home a week after being badly bitten by a pit bull she was fostering in her home, the town’s assistant animal control officer remains distraught over signing the order to put the animal to death. ‘I loved that dog,’ Shea Cavacini said. ‘I’m going to blame myself forever.’ … ‘If they hadn’t applied the tourniquets, I might not have my arm.’ … ‘This is not a breed-specific thing,’ Cavacini said.” – Shea Cavacini, Griswold, Connecticut assistant animal control officer

“Super Nutter”

As opposed to just a plain old pit nutter — now commonly seen shortened and also capitalized to the single term “Nutter” — a Super Nutter was coined by writer Snack Sized Dog in a December 2012 blog post on Craven Desires, Who will be the Austin TX Next Top Nutter? The post names three Super Nutters, persons and organizations who have demonstrated or advanced exponential Nutter endeavors: Austin Animal Services, Christopher Grant and State Representative Eddie Rodriguez, D-Austin (District 51).

Austin Animal Services – You couldn’t find a more pit bull lovin’ & promotin’ organization than Austin Animal Services and their little buddy Austin Pets Alive! You’d also be hard pressed to find an organization so audaciously and brazenly contemptuous of the hand that feeds it. It takes major balls to take tax payers’ money for the stated purpose of adopting out more large dogs with behavior problems back into those tax payers’ neighborhoods
Christopher Grant – ‘handicapable’ GRANT has trained his own dogs, including the two service pits himself. Look at these training videos. First, as a responsible owner, he builds a very high fence (Title of video: Freestyle walking). And then he trains his dogs to scale it. And in this one, he teaches his service dogs to pull him around on a bike (Title of the video, Urban Sled).
State Rep. Eddie Rodriguez – He could have looked at the carnage CHRIS ‘walking clusterfuck’ GRANT has wrought and publicly demanded that the full force of Lillian’s law be brought to bear … He could have decided to file a bill that penalizes people for fraudulently claiming their pets are service dogs … RODRIGUEZ is now set to file a bill that will make sure that the next CHRIS GRANT will be allowed to force the City of Austin to spend tax-payer money to fight an appeal to keep the mauling pit bulls in their neighborhood.

Other Super Nutters that come to mind prior to this enhanced terminology include Greg Napora whose pregnant wife was brutally killed by the couple’s pet pit bull. Napora told the media after her death that he planned to bury her (and her unborn child) with her murderer.

“A day after the family’s pit bull fatally attacked his pregnant wife, Greg Napora said Friday he doesn’t blame the dog. He even plans to bury his spouse, Darla, with their pet’s cremated remains in her casket. “They are the most loving animals I have ever had in my life. Whatever happened right now was not the breed’s fault,” said Napora, who found his wife dead when he returned to the couple’s Pacifica home from his construction job with plans to take her to lunch Thursday. “It was just a freak accident.” – Greg Napora

In December 2015, “fiance” Matthew Grattan joined the team. After the horrific mauling death of Rebecca Hardy of Port Huron — the pit bull latched onto her neck and ripped out her jugular and esophagus  — her fiance launched The Breed is Not to Blame campaign!

rebecca hardy fiance, campaign to not blame the breed

Writer Barbara Kay of the National Post, who does not shy away when writing about the dangerousness of pit bulls, recently penned the Maul Talk Term “ambulatory grenade.” In the same article, “Beauty queen becomes target of the pit bully lobby,” Kay created a new acronym for the pit bull lobby, calling it the pit bull advocacy movement (PBAM). Kay dutifully remarks that the PBAM, oddly enough, only exists to promote the denial of the pit bull breed’s proven vices: continuous maulings, maimings and deaths.

but the fruit of a well-oiled, extremely well-funded propaganda campaign by the pit bull advocacy movement (PBAM). The PBAM is wedded to the fiction that the pit bull, sadly victimized by a biased press, is a gentle, affectionate, child-loving dog … The PBAM is a powerful lobby group that has successfully coerced complicity in the propagation of pit bull myths from kennel clubs and humane societies, and shamefully misled gullible media … Only the PBAM exists to promote denial of their beloved breed’s proven vices. – Barbara Kay

“Ambulatory grenade”

Writer Barbara Kay of the National Post, who writes sharply crafted prose about the dangerousness of pit bulls, recently penned two Maul Talk Terms in a single paragraph. The article, “Beauty queen becomes target of the pit bully lobby” concerns the recent announcement by Miss Universe Canada, Sahar Biniaz, that she supports a provincial pit bull law in British Columbia. The first term by Kay is “PBAM” and the second is her description of a pit bull as a “genetically manufactured ambulatory grenade.”

The petition against Ms. Biniaz is not a spontaneous phenomenon, but the fruit of a well-oiled, extremely well-funded propaganda campaign by the pit bull advocacy movement (PBAM). The PBAM is wedded to the fiction that the pit bull, sadly victimized by a biased press, is a gentle, affectionate, child-loving dog. They are — until suddenly they aren’t. And nobody knows when or why they will strike with their rending, crocodile teeth and implacable to-the-death grip, except that the answer lies in their genes. The pit bull is a genetically manufactured ambulatory grenade and deserves every bit of condemnation it receives. – Barbara Kay

“Navigate the yard”

In what may be one of the finest comments ever left at the Facebook page — noted as biblical in fact — a reader sarcastically responds to the many nauseating Maul Talk phrases used by pit bull owners to deny the breed’s responsibility in the continuous onslaught of maulings and killings. In a dazzling metaphor, the reader hits all of the highlights: It’s all in how you raise ’em; pit bulls don’t snap for no reason; images of pit bulls cuddling with babies; and last but not least: Don’t ban the breed, ban stupid owners!

I have live land mines in my yard. They’re safe. They’ve never exploded. It’s all in how you navigate the yard. Land mines don’t explode for no reason; something has to set them off. I even have pictures of my kids sitting in my land mine strewn yard and smiling, set to “Angel” by Sarah Mclachlan. Don’t ban land mines, ban dumb, inattentive walkers!” – David
